Our junior high Robotics team went to the G.E.A.R. Trial Run competition in Lubbock on March 26, 2022. The group consists of six 8th grade students and is coached by Andrew Purcella, who is in his first year at Morton I.S.D.
Each trial run allows students two minutes to score the most points under the competition rules. They get three tries, with the team's best two scores combined for a total score. Out of 52 teams, all three Morton teams placed in the top half. The team of M3 and M3 placed 4th with a score of 440! The team of M1 and M1's score of 370 earned an impressive 8th place finish. With 195 earned points Angie and Aron clinched 22nd overall, beating 30 other schools.
Game Day Competition will be at Lubbock High School from 1:30-5:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Good luck to our Robotics team!
